Hayes Road Residential House, London

Client: Mr. Ford & Mr. Metcalfe
Date : 2007

Hayes road house is a mixture of Edwardian and Victorian features with unique and complex character. Located in the southeast of London, the project is a two story addition and refurbishment for the ground and first floor. The main approach of this project is to try to use the new additions and the alterations to provide a strategy for fresh air circulation using existing chimney and use solar energy principles to reduce the use of energy in the house. The use of natural ventilation (down draft system) through the existing fire places and an environmentally friendly heating system with solar energy panels on the main roof are some of the proposed measures.

The design is intended to integrate with the existing house respecting its historic character with contemporary touches in the internal space.
